Indoor Air Consulting
Your home
Your home and its environment can be a complex combination of systems and construction techniques that have an impact on the indoor air quality in your home.
Your home should be maintained at a slight positive pressure (exhale) so that unwanted contaminants are not brought into the home. Heating and air conditioning systems play an important role in achieving this. Its installation, operation and maintenance are important.
If your home runs in a negative it means it is being depressurized by some source or device in the home such as bathroom exhaust fans, combustion appliances such as a gas stove, fireplaces, dryer vents and kitchen exhaust hoods.
It is important to pay particular attention to ways in which IAQ can be maintained at a higher quality.
Some things to consider on your homes IAQ are:
*Ultraviolet Lights to:
1. Clean air of particles as small as .01 microns.
2. Sterilize and clean the A/C evaporator coil for more efficient operation both in heating and cooling.
3. Reduce or eliminate odors and household vapors plus allergens.
* HRV or ERV unit ventilators:
1. Bring in fresh air to keep building (home) in a positive.
2. Reclaim cooled or heated air energy to help prevent increase of operation costs.
3. Filter outdoor air makeup and increase dehumidification.
* Dehumidifier to bring in fresh air as needed and reduce cooling load by removing moisture from supplemental air.
*PROTECT - your HVAC system by preventing contaminants from growing inside your system.
